This specimen was lot 75518 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS. 2 Cents, 1878. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-64 Brown. KEY DATE." This two cent piece was struck for Mauritius in 1877-78, 1882-84, 1888-90, 1896-97 and is the first coin of that denomination issued for that island along with an accompanying ten, twenty, one and five cent pieces. This is a scarce date. The island remained under British rule until 1968.

Recorded mintage: 130,000 plus proofs.
