Sincona sale 46, lot 564

This specimen was lot 564 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 1,900 CHF (about US$2,280 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY, Mantova, Francesco III. Gonzaga 1540-1550. Scudo doro o. J. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler. (duchy of Mantua, Francis III GonzagaV, undated gold scudo. Very rare, Very fine, Minor flan defect.)"

This is the only gold issue for this ruler listed in Friedberg.
