This specimen was lot 10324 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $302. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Mansfeld-Eigentliche. Taler, 1618. Friedrich Christoph (1567-1631). Cleaned." Mansfeld-Eigentliche-Hinterort was a county of utmost insignificance except for its silver mines which provided the material for an abundance of thalers. Duke David ruled 1592-1628 and Frederick Christopher 1609-31; the line went extinct in 1666. This type was struck 1610-21 and is fairly common.
