This specimen was lot 2471 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $102. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALWA: Muhammad b. Muzaffar, 1555-1557, AR tanka, Mandu, AH965, full mint name 'struck in (Amid?) also known as Mandu', with 'Amid' unexplained, choice VF-XF, RR. Date unknown to Goron, who cited only AH962-964." Malwa was conquered by Sher Shah's Dehli Sultanate 1542-55. This type was struck by the sultan of Malwa during a brief period of independence before the state was permanently conquered by the Mughals in 1562.
