This specimen was lot 72435 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALAYA AND BRITISH BORNEO. Cent, 1962. PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Red Brown Gold Shield. A fully captivating and charming piece yielding blazing red-brown surfaces, this Near Gem is tied with just one other example for finest certified at PCGS. Ex: King's Norton Mint Collection." Coinage for the Straits Settlements ceased in 1935 and that of Malaya began in 1939 with a cent, five cents, ten cents and twenty cents. Coinage ceased in 1950 when the colony was merged with British North Borneo. This type was struck 1962 only and is common.

Recorded mintage: 45,000,000 plus about 25 proofs.
