Künker sale 352, lot 1972

This specimen was lot 1972 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €4,400 (about US$6,124 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"MAINZ, ERZBISTUM, Uriel von Gemmingen, 1508-1514. Goldgulden 1514, Mainz. Geviertes Wappen von drei Schildchen umgeben in Dreipaß//Christus thront v. v. über Wappen (Mainz). GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit Sehr schön. (Germany, archbishopric of Mainz, Uriel of Gemmingen, 1508-14, goldgulden of 1514, Mainz mint. Extremely rare, very fine.)"

The archbishop issued this type intermittently 1506-14. Some come undated.
