Künker sale 404, lot 2209

This specimen was lot 2209 in Künker sale 404 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,412 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DAS ERZBISTUM MAINZ. ERZBISCHOF DIETRICH I. SCHENK VON ERBACH, 1434-1459. Die Münzstätte Bingen. Goldgulden 1437, Bingen. Vierfeldiges Wappen (Mainz/Erbach) auf Langkreuz, oben r. im Feld ein Punkt//Die Wappen von Köln/Mörs (links), Trier/Helmstadt (rechts) und Pfalz/Bayern (unten) in Kleeblattstellung, in der Mitte eine Rosette. GOLD. RR Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Münzhandlung Sonntag 21, Stuttgart 2015, Nr. 957. (Germany, archbishopric of Mainz, Dietrich I Schenk of Erbach, 1434-59, goldgulden of 1437, Bingen mint. Obverse: quartered arms of Mainz and Erbach over a long cross, a dot in the right field; reverse: arms of Cologne/Mors, Trier/Helmstadt and Pfalz/Bavaria in a circle, a rosette in the center. Very rare, very fine.)"

Dietrich issued two goldgulden: Fr-1624 (archbishop standing/arms in trilobe reverse) and Fr-1625 (shown here).
