This specimen was lot 34092 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "Macau: Portuguese Colony gold Proof "Dragon" 1000 Patacas 1988 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. Lunar Series. Near-immaculate Ultra Cameo, watery fields, contrasting with razor-sharp frosty devices." Macao began issuing NCLT's in honor of the Chinese lunar calendar in 1979. This denomination was added in 1980.
Recorded mintage: 6,000.
Specification: 15.98 g, 0.917 fine gold (same standard as a British two pounds).
