Macao 1988 10000 patacas
This specimen was lot 21438 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $18,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "MACAU. 10000 Patacas, 1988. PCGS PROOF-68 Deep Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Grand Prix. Choice quality for this highly sought modern gold issue, exhibiting superb cameo features and surfaces that are without noteworthy instances of handling, fog, haze or spots. Accompanied by COA #230." This large issue was accompanied by a silver 100 patacas (KM 40), silver five ounce 500 patacas (KM 41) and a gold 500 patacas (KM 42), struck to the standard of a British sovereign.
