Sincona sale 64, lot 3401

This specimen was lot 3401 in Sincona sale 64 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 720 CHF (about US$902 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Lucerne | Stadt und Kanton. Taler o. J. (16. Jhdt.), Luzern. Sehr schön. Kl. Schrötlingsrisse. (city and canton of Luzern, undated thaler of the sixteenth century, Luzern mint. Very fine, Small flan cracks.)"

The date assigned to this issue (c. 1560) is approximate but Luzern issued several other similar but dated thalers in the 1550's.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
