Sincona sale 51, lot 4116

This specimen was lot 4116 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Stadt und Kanton Luzern, Etschkreuzer 1564, Luzern. Selten. Sehr schön. (city and canton of Lucerne, kreuzer of 1564, Lucerne mint. Rare, Very fine.)"

We are going to guess from the weight that a kreuzer was half a schilling. This type was struck 1556, 1560-66 and undated.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.85 g, billon, 18 mm diameter, this specimen 0.74 g.
