This specimen was lot 1295 in Jean Elsen sale 160 (Brussels, November 2024), where it sold for €650 (about US$823 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LUXEMBOURG, Duché, Philippe IV (1621-1665), AR escalin, 1637, Luxembourg. D/ Lion deb. à g., ten. une épée et un écu d'Autriche-Bourgogne. R/ Ecu couronné sur une croix de Bourgogne. Rare. Griffes au revers. Très Beau. (duchy of Luxembourg, Philip IV, 1621-65, silver escalin of 1637, Luxembourg mint. Obverse: lion rampant left, bearing a sword and the arms of Austria-Burgundy; reverse: crowned arms over a Burgundian cross. Rare, scratches on the reverse, very fine.)"

This type was struck in Luxembourg 1632, 1636-44. Escalins were also struck in Artois (KM 3), Franche Comté, Brabant (KM 52, four mints), Flanders (KM 31) and Tournai (KM 41). These coins were called schillings in the United Provinces.
