city and bishopric of Lübeck in 1648

This specimen was lot 990 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,281 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LÜBECK, STADT Errata: Das Stück hat Fassungsspuren. Reichstaler (32 Schilling) 1642 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1641 geändert), mit Titel Ferdinands III. und dem Abzeichen des Bürgermeisters Christoph Gerdes. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr schön. (Germany, city of Lubeck, thaler of 1642 (1642/1 overdate), struck in the name of Ferdinand III and the initials of mayor Christoph Gerdes. Very rare, very fine, mounted.)"

This type was struck 1641-50. Like most thalers from this locale in the seventeenth century, it is expensive.
