Lombardy-Venetia 1862-B 5/10 soldo
This specimen was lot 3180 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 90 CHF (about US$108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 5/10 Soldo 1862 B, Bologna. Uncirculated." This type was struck for the kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia in 1862 at Vienna, Kremnitz (not Bologna, as stated by the auctioneers) and Venice. It is common despite being a one year type. Twenty soldi made a lira and six lire made a scudo. At the Congress of Vienna, Venice, Milan and Mantua were merged into the kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia and awarded to Austria. Lombardy fell to Sardinia in 1859 and Venetia to Italy in 1866.
