Künker sale 406, lot 4676

This specimen was lot 4676 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €150 (about US$197 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BALTIKUM, RIGA, STADT, Unter Schweden. Karl XI. 1660-1697. 1/24 Taler (Dreipölker) 1669. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 66 (3938309-016). Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast Stempelglanz. (Baltic states, city of Riga, under Swedish rule, Charles XI, 1660-97, 1/24 thaler or Dreipölker of 1669. Graded NGC MS-66, scarce in this quality, about uncirculated.)"

This obscure type is listed for 1669 only. Riga and Livonia were seized by Sweden from Poland in 1621 and retained by them until their loss to Russia in 1721.
