This specimen was lot 1125 in Jean Elsen sale 113 (Brussels, June 2012) where it sold for €600 (about US$898 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[2] noted,

"LIEGE, Principauté, François-Antoine de Méan (1792-1802), AR escalin, 1792, Frappe postérieure. Droit : Ecu couronné, posé sur une crosse et une épée. Revers : Lion à gauche, tenant une épée et l'écu au perron. Rare. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (Prince-bishopric of Liège, Francis Anthony of Méan (1792-1802), silver escalin of 1792, later restrike. Obverse: crowned arms, crossed swords behind; reverse: lion to left, bearing a sword and shield. Rare, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type is not listed in the SCWC but is very similar to a pattern shown therein (KM Pn1). In 1792, the Austrian Netherlands, including Liege, were overrun by French armies and were annexed to France until 1814. The area is now part of Belgium.
