The first specimen was lot 709 in Jean Elsen sale 138 (Brussels, September 2018), where it sold for €80 (about US$111 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIEGE, Principauté, Robert de Berghes (1557-1564), AR sprenger (5 patards), s.d. (1560). D/ L'écu épiscopal sous un heaume à cimier. R/ Croix longue et ornée. Patine foncée. Très Beau. (prince-bishopric of Liège, Robert de Berghes, 1557-64, undated silver springer (five patards). Obverse: helmeted bishop's arms; reverse: long ornate cross. Nice toning, very fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 1088 in Jean Elsen sale 156 (Brussels, September 2023), where it sold for €130 (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"LIEGE, Principauté, Robert de Berghes (1557-1564), AR sprenger (cinq patards), s.d. (1560), Liège ou Hasselt. D/ L'écu de l'évêque sous un heaume à cimier. R/ Croix feuillue et ornée, coupant la légende. Très Beau. Provient de la collection A. Symkens, 25 novembre 1991. (principality of Liège, Robert de Berghes, 1557-64, undated silver sprenger or five patards, Liège or Hasselt mints. Obverse: helmeted arms of the bishop; reverse: ornate leafy cross cutting the legend. Very Fine.)"

This denomination is not recorded after the seventeenth century, being replaced by the escalin (six sols).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: debased silver, the first specimen 7,72 g, the second specimen is 7,16 g.
