Extremely rare, minor edge nick, Very Fine.)"

(The first coin of Liege bore the name of the duke of Bouillon. Of very elegant design, it was struck in the Hasselt mint which had been closed since the annexation of the county of Loos in 1366. The episcopate of John was marked by increasing tensions between the bishop and his powerful neighbor, the duke of Burgundy. Philip the Good finally obliged John to resign his seat at Breda in 1455 in favor of his nephew Louis of Bourbon.)"

During his checkered career, John also issued a chaise d'or, several florin d'or, a couronne d'or and a half ange d'or, all very rare.
