This specimen was lot 1687 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$3,598 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Johann II. 1858-1929 20 Kronen 1898. Selten. Fast FDC. (principality of Liechtenstein, John II, 1858-1929, twenty kronen of 1898. Rare. About uncirculated.)"
This type was struck to the standard of an Austrian twenty corona. After World War One and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the prince realigned his tiny state with Switzerland.
Recorded mintage: unknown but few.
Specification: 6.77 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 6.75 g.
