Sincona sale 9, lot 4691

This specimen was lot 4691 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 2900 CHF (about US$3,668 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIECHTENSTEIN Johann II. 1858-1929. Vereinstaler 1862 A, Wien. Fast FDC mit attraktiver bläulicher Patina. (Liechtenstein, John II, 1858-1929, thaler of 1862, choice uncirculated with attractive bluish patina.)"

This is the only thaler struck for Liechtenstein in the nineteenth century. It is rare but restrikes exist; this specimen appears to be an original.

Recorded mintage: 1,920.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver.
