This specimen was lot 33411 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Proof 2 Cents 1862 PR65 Brown NGC. A large copper Proof, virtually flawless and possessing strong eye appeal." This type was issued along with a similar one cent. It varies from the issue of 1847 by having four stars on the reverse instead of two. Proofs exist and turn up in auctions from time to time, suggesting that they were saved. Liberty has a distinctly European appearance even tho the settlement was intended for Africans.
