This specimen was lot 73116 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "LESOTHO. 250 Maloti, 1981. London Mint. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo Gold Shield. A RARE modern issue in platinum that was struck to celebrate the royal wedding of Charles and Diana. Virtually perfect in terms of quality and sold with the original box of issue." This type was also struck in gold.
