This specimen was lot 31127 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lesotho: Moshoeshoe II gold Proof "Death of Moshoeshoe I" 500 Maloti 1980 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. A nearly perfect representative honoring the 110th anniversary of the death of King Moshoeshoe I, the reverse depicting an ear of corn, a diamond, and an alligator. This piece is tied for the finest at NGC and PCGS with three others. From the Paramount Collection."

Recorded mintage: 1,500 + 3,000 proofs.
