Lauenburg in 1648

This specimen was lot 965 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €200 (about US$270 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LAUENBURG, HERZOGTUM, Friedrich VI. von Dänemark, 1806-1839. 2/3 Taler 1830. Fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Bernhard Terletzki. (Germany, duchy of Lauenburg, Frederick VI of Denmark, 1806-39, 2/3 thaler of 1830, about extremely fine.)"

This scarce issue is priced even higher as it is the only issue of this state while it was under Danish rule 1814-64. It thereafter passed to Prussia and remains part of Germany.

Recorded mintage: 4,000.

Specification: 17.32 g, 0.750 fine silver.
