This specimen was lot 75364 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "KUWAIT. 50 Dinars, AH 1406/1986. Jaber III al-Ahmad al-Sabah. NGC PROOF-69. Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Kuwaiti independence. This nearly flawless example delivers enticing beauty, with a crisp cameo contrast throughout." Another obscure NCLT that sells for its bullion value. Oddly, altho there is plenty of Arabic lettering on the coin, the AH date is not shown ("١٩٨٦-٢-٢٥" is the CE date, not the AH date).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 16.96 g, 0.917 fine gold.
Catalog reference: Fr-4; KM-21.
