This specimen was lot 901 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "KEMPTEN: Free City, AR thaler, 1540, Fine, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck 1540-43 and 1547. The city was annexed to Bavaria in 1803.
