Jordan 2016 10 dinars
This specimen was lot 3852 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $78. The catalog description[1] noted, "JORDAN: Abdullah II, 1999-, AR 10 dinars, 2016, 100th Anniversary of the Great Arab Revolt - bust of Sherif Hussein bin Ali, colored flag of the Arab Revolt, mintage of 1500 coins, Proof." The Arab revolt of World War One is the one glamorized in the movie Lawrence of Arabia. Altho the revolt was successful in driving the Turks from Arabia, it did not suit the interests of Britain and France to permit the creation of the kingdom of Arabia envisioned by Sharif Hussein bin Ali. Instead, the French seized Syria and Lebanon and the British took Palestine, Transjordan and Iraq. This NCLT lacks an AH date.
Recorded mintage: 1,500 proofs.
Specification: 28.28 g, 0.999 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-95.
