Jever in 1648, north of Oldenburg and Ostfriesland

This specimen was lot 926 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €3,000 (about US$4,044 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"JEVER, HERRSCHAFT, Maria, 1536-1575. Taler 1567, Jever. Danielstaler. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Tönung, winz. Randfehler, sehr schön +. Exemplar der Slg. Bernhard Terletzki. Erworben im April 2001 von Manfred Olding, Osnabrück. (lordship of Jever, Maria, 1536-75, "Daniel's" thaler of 1567, Jever mint. Scarce in this quality, attractive example with nice toning, some rim bumps, very fine or better.)"

This issue is nicknamed the "Danielsthaler" as it depicts Daniel in the lions' den. Dav-9338, -A9339 and -9339 have the same nickname.
