This specimen was lot 75217 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $732. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. Java. Rupee, 1750. Batavia Mint. NGC AU-55. A well-struck and well-preserved example of the type. Deep grey and charcoal fields serve to highlight the Arabic script design features. A RARE variety sure to spark interest. Attractive and desirable." The SCWC lists this scarce type for 1747-50. We assume it was locally made.
