This specimen was lot 23123 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAPAN. 10000 Yen, Year 21 (2009). PCGS GEM PROOF. Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Emperor Akihito's accession to the throne, this wondrous and dazzling issue offers breathtakingly mirrored fields and supremely frosted devices. The obverse design features the Phoenix rising above the Nijyu-bashi bridge."

Recorded mintage: 100,000 proofs.
