This type was struck in Tokyo 1928-38. The fifty sen was 13.48 g until 1905, then 10.13 g during 1912-17, then 4.95 g during 1922-38 and brass thereafter.

Recorded mintage: 27,677,501.

Specification: 4.95 g, 0.720 fine silver, 23.8 mm diameter.
