This specimen was lot 23219 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAPAN. Yen, Year 3 (1914). NGC MS-64. One year type and the last of the silver Yen. More charming than most with lovely multicolored iridescent tone in mauve, orange, blue, lime-green and yellow hue over each side." This is the only yen struck during the Taisho era and the last silver yen. Fortunately for collectors, it is common.
Recorded mintage: 11,500,000.
Specification: 26.96 g, 0.900 fine silver, .780 troy oz ASW, 38.1 mm diameter.
