This specimen was lot 23109 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAPAN. Shu, ND (1824-32). Bunsei Era. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. A problem-free and boldly stamped Shu, very pale gold to gray in color, overall a pleasing example of the type." We wonder where the SCWC obtained the mintage figure given here.

Recorded mintage: 46,723,072.

Specification: 1.39 g, .123 fine gold, .877 fine silver, this specimen 1.37 g.
