This specimen was lot 1882 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAMAICA, copper-nickel-zinc proof penny, Elizabeth II, 1969, Jamaican Coinage Centennial, NGC PF 66, ex-Rudman. Nice flashy proof example of this one-year commemorative type struck with a dual 1869-1969 date to honor a centennial of Jamaican coinage, mintage of just 5,000 in proof. Pedigreed to the Isaac Rudman Collection." The official coinage of Jamaica begins with issues of copper-nickel farthings, half pennies and pennies during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). In 1937, with the accession of George VI, the composition was changed to nickel brass and issued in this manner until the end of sterling coinage in 1967. This particular type was struck 1969 only and celebrates the centennial of Jamaican coinage ("1869-1969"). It is the last sterling issue before decimalization.

Recorded mintage: 30,000 plus 5,000 proofs, a common date.
