The specimen shown is from a type struck in Rome for Italy 2002-06. Italy is one of the founders of the euro and began issuing coins in that system in 2002. In 2008, the obverse was modified to show a redesigned map of Europe. All dates are common. The reverse shows the head of Botticelli's Venus, an art treasure on display at the Uffizi in Florence.

Recorded mintage: 180,000,000.
