Sincona sale 101, part of lot 2941

This specimen was lot 2941 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Vittorio Emanuele III. 1900-1946. 2 Lire 1938 / Anno XVII R, Roma. Sehr selten. Nur 20 Exemplare geprägt, Das neben einem weiteren durch NGC höchstbewertete Exemplar, Very rare. Only 20 specimens struck. NGC MS66+. Tied with one other for finest certified by NGC."

This type was struck 1936-43. Only the first year was made in nickel; the later dates are stainless steel, either conventional 18-8 (nonmagnetic) or without the nickel alloy ("Acmonital", magnetic). This date was struck only for presentation.

Specification: 10 g, stainless steel, 29 mm diameter, this specimen 9.87 g.
