This specimen was lot 5790 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $230. The catalog description[2] noted, "Italy. 5 Centesimi, 1915-R. Vittorio Emanuele III. NGC graded MS-65 Brown." This type, struck 1908-09, 1912-15, 1918, is surprisingly scarce compared to the similar one and two centesimi. In 1919, the weight was reduced to 3.26 g (KM 59) and many may have been melted.
Recorded mintage: 1,038,000.
