This specimen was lot 3422 in Goldberg sale 78 (Los Angeles, January 2014), where it sold for $258.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy. 2 Lire, 1897-R. Umberto I. Original brilliant mint luster. NGC graded MS-61." This type was struck at the Rome mint 1881-87 and 1897-99 and is common in circulated condition, tho this is a better date.
Recorded mintage: 848,000.
Specification: 10 g, 0.835 fine silver, .268 troy oz ASW.
