Italy 1892-R lira
This specimen was lot 32678 in Heritage Sale 3115 (Chicago, May 2024), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy: Umberto I Lira 1892-R MS63 NGC, Rome mint. Charcoal and smoke wash over from the peripherals, though the patination turns brighter and more vibrant inside the legends The second-lowest mint run in the series and rather difficult to locate at this level of preservation as this is a type that witnessed heavy circulation." This type was struck at Rome 1883-86, 1892, 1899-1900. However, the 1887 issue from Milan is by far the most common date.
