This specimen was lot 40658 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,058. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. 50 Centesimi, 1892-R. NGC MS-63. Toned. Demarete Collection." This type was struck for the kingdom of Italy in 1889 and 1892 only, leaving the type rather scarcer than expected. It is rare in choice condition. Italy managed to stay in the Latin Monetary Union until World War One bankrupted the treasury.

Recorded mintage: 148,000.
