This specimen was lot 2236 in Goldberg sale 122 (Los Angeles, June 2021), where it sold for $1,740. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian Somaliland. Prova ¼ Rupia, 1910-R. Silver. Vittorio Emanuele III. Head right. Reverse: Crown above value within wreath. Lovely toned example. Rare. NGC graded Proof 65." Altho this is the prova, or pattern, version of this coin, it is basicaly identical to the circulation version except for the "PROVA" stamped on the reverse. It was struck to the standard of the Indian rupee rather than that of the Italian lira. Coinage for the area ceased in 1925.
