Israel 2009 10 new sheqalim Fr-111
This specimen was part of lot 1903 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), which sold for $851.87. The catalog description[1] noted, "Israel. Gold 10 New Sheqalim plus silver 2 and 1 New Sheqel, 2009 Choice Brillia[nt Proof]. Independence Day. Israel's Sixty-first Anniversary Birds of Israel. In original case. 10 and 2 New Sheqalim Choice Brilliant Proof, 1 New Sheqel BU." This denomination was used for gold half ounce commemoratives. Base metal bimetallic ten sheqalim also exist, but they don't seem to have circulated either, being available only in sets. Massive influx of aid from the United States fueled inflation and coinage reforms in 1960, 1980 and 1985.
