This specimen was lot 99311 in Heritage sale 61259 (Dallas, TX, February 2022), where it sold for $693.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Isles du Vent. French Protectorate - Louis XV 12 Sols 1732-H AU58 NGC, La Rochelle mint. A seemingly conservatively graded example of the type with all the eye appeal one would expect from a finer designation, largely devoid of grade-limiting friction and dressed in an appreciable steely tone." This type was struck at La Rochelle in 1731-32 for the use of the French Windward Islands in the Caribbean, altho they also circulated in the English islands. At that time, the islands were a major source of the world's sugar and were enormously profitable.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, 17.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
