Isle of Man 1981 crown KM-82
This specimen was lot 75109 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $1,159. The catalog description[1] noted, "ISLE OF MAN. Crown, 1981. Surrey (Pobjoy) Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo." The Pobjoy mint also struck KM 73, KM 74, KM 75, KM 76, KM 77, KM 78, KM 79, KM 80 and KM 81, each sold in multiple formats. This one, struck for the ill-fated marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana, was struck in copper-nickel, silver, gold (light and heavy) and platinum.
Recorded mintage: 50,000 in copper-nickel plus 20,000 in sterling silver plus 10,000 in 9 K gold plus 1,000 in 22 K gold plus more in platinum.
Specification: KM 82: copper-nickel, 38.5 mm diameter; KM 82a: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver; KM 82b: 5.1 g, 0.375 fine gold; KM 82c: 7.96 g, 0.917 fine gold, AGW: 0.2347 oz; KM 82d: 52 g, 0.925 fine platinum, 38.5 mm diameter.
