This specimen was lot 71581 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. 50 Pence, 1981. Kings Norton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63. Heptagonal shaped. A choice example of this RARE offering, presenting the mirrored brilliance that one would expect from a specimen striking." This type was struck 1969-2000. Ireland adopted the euro in 2002 and all this coinage is obsolete.
