This specimen was lot 72007 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. 10 Pence, 1973. Dublin Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. A shimmering Gem from early in this more modern Irish series. Highly lustrous and sharply struck. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." This type was struck 1969-86 as part of the decimalization of the Irish pound. The module matched that of the old florin. The size was reduced in 1993. Ireland adopted the euro in 2002 and all this coinage is obsolete.
