Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 38817

This specimen was lot 38817 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Pahlavi, SH 1348 (1969). Tehran Mint. Muhammad Reza Pahlavi. NGC MS-63. From the Yasmin Collection." This type, struck SH 1330-1353 during the reign of Muhammed Reza Shah (r. 1941-79), was minted to the standard of a British sovereign. Gold half (Fr-102), 2½ (Fr-100), five and ten pahlavis also exist. The coins generally trade as bullion.

Recorded mintage: 70,000.

Specification: 8.13 g, 0.900 fine gold, 22 mm diameter.
