Iran SH1344 1/4 pahlavi

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71079

This specimen was lot 71079 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $144. The catalog description^[1] noted, "IRAN. 1/4 Pahlavi, SH1344 (1965). NGC MS-66. Good strike with soft satin luster." This type was struck SH1336-1352 and is slightly more common than the preceding type of SH1332-1336, which was 14 mm diameter.

Recorded mintage: 30,000.

Specification: 2.03 g, 0.900 fine gold, 16 mm diameter.
