This specimen was lot 6790 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $258.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 1/2 Pahlavi, SH 1326 (1947). NGC MS-65. High relief type with the reverse lion flat struck. Satiny mildly toned surfaces with full luster. Tied with one other piece as the finest certified example." This type, struck SH 1324-1330 during the reign of Muhammed Reza Shah (r. 1941-79), was minted to the standard of a British half sovereign. The coins generally trade as bullion coins.
