Iran SH1324 pahlavi

from the Stack's Bowers 2017 NYINC sale, lot 6789

This specimen was lot 6789 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $493.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "IRAN. Pahlavi, SH 1324 (1945). NGC MS-66. Attractive high relief striking with glowing satiny gold surfaces which show no signs of contact or mishandling. Tied with four other examples in this grade with only one piece graded one point finer." This type, struck SH 1324-1330 during the reign of Muhammed Reza Shah (r. 1941-79), was minted to the standard of a British sovereign. The coins generally trade as bullion coins.
